There are always those who want to be a little more adventurous and travel the unknown. I sometimes get emails asking for maps and directions. I am happy to provide as much info as I have time to but there are no marked trails in Iranian mountains bar a well trodden path that goes up to Tochal summit north of Tehran. (Alt. 3950m) If you go to Tochal  on a Thursday or a Friday there will be hundreds of hikers walking up and you do not really need a guide but then it is not that interesting so see the ugly city with all it's smog even when you  are on the summit. For other summits you either need a guide or a GPS map, you may buy the GPS map on line. For more remote and less trodden paths in the Alamut Valley Taleghan and other less known Central and Western Alborz summits you are well advised to get a guide. A blog regarding my trekking activities in Iran has been overdue. I have been thinking about it for a while and here I am on the 11th of February 2015 initiating a blog which I hope to use as an informative base for all those with an interest in Iran and particularly for those who wish to make a trip to this wonderful country.  I will tell stories about guests in Khoonegeli , to use it as an example of perceptions travellers have and receive when they visit Iran, challenges facing tourism and those involved in tourism in Iran, as well as other related topics.
